Comming Attractions in Grand Terrace: Stay Tuned

As We the Citizens of Grand Terrace Enjoy the final days of Firework Assualt along with Fireworks this City has issues to address. Some of these issues are over 3 years old now and yet the City Council has not had the Items on the Agenda, or Refuse to address the Issues brought to them.

A Quick Review:

Eminent Domain: The Use and Limited Use of Eminent Domain by the City and Redevelopment Agency. Not by saying we haven’t or didn’t use it, but by changing the Code or Ordinance allowing it for limited specific reasons.

AES: City Council Position sent to California Energy Commission and put AES on Notice.

High School #3: Conflict of Intended Use if AES is across the street will the CJUSD back out of the Deal and Leave the land back to GT RDA?

OAC and the Overpriced House bought by the RDA as Negotiated by Gene Carlstrom of Terra Loma.

The continued practice of Hiring and Employing Part Time City Planners while Contracting Services with their “Other Employer”. The same people who brought us the DEFUNKED OAC, Manhole Cover Initial Approval, and rushed and unfinished documents on almost every RDA/Developer Project in the city. The same people get no bid contracts for services to the city.

The lack of documented proof that Steve Berry Paid 500.00 for the Car the City RDA bought with RDA Funds, for the exclusive use of Tom Schwab, and the deposit of those funds in a specific City or RDA Account. Not to mention any action taken regarding the sale of surplus items without proper process.

The lack of a Plan for the Town Square, including the proper disposition of RDA Land in the Project Area., (public notice last years transfer of RDA land to Jacobsen was not done), has payment been received by the RDA? The Designated Developer had an obligation to meet a time line regarding development and planning. Those requirements have expired.

The Un Recalled and Newly Elected and City Council Members have all entered into their period of being Recallable, (6 months Served and More than 6 months left in their terms). Will this cause them to get to work and do the city’s business and be responsive to the Citizens of the Community, or will the citizens conclude they gave the Mayor the benefit of doubt and gave her a try as “Official Mayor” and they are or are not satisfied with the direction and actions of the City?

Will there be folks to run for City Council that will Put the Citizen’s Concerns and Issues on the Official Agenda, so the council can have a discussion, commit to a position and show their real and true interests, and concerns?

Will the City Web Page be Updated and Maintained… and accurate? Will the City Publish Arrest Records, and Crime Reports, including the Call in to Dispatch Log?

So much left to do in the City of Grand Terrace, and yet for the last six months the City Council Meetings were less than an hour in duration, and items requested to be on the agenda, have not been on the agenda.
