Is It Time for Bea Cortes To Resign From Politics: YES

Bea Cortes has become an embarrassment to her family, her city and her county and state. She should resign immediately from her position on the city council and thus SANBAG and all other functions and titles she has as a result of her being on the Grand Terrace City Council.

Grand Terrace should be ashamed of having her associated with our community. Her recent antics at JB's Bar should have tipped any reasonable person to agree she must go. To confront a citizen customer in a bar and then do it a second time is bad enough. The first question we should ask is why is one of our Council Members apparently hanging out so frequently at a bar. The second question is who on earth would go pick the first fight, " What did you say about me"? That has all the signs of the maturity of a person in Jr. High School. Then to do it again days later. How many of us would even recognize a person 3 days later, let alone amp up the situation with a 2nd confrontation in the ladies room.

Bea Cortes has demonstrated that she is not able to handle a social situation let alone a political one. She need to get off the City Council and deal with her personal problems. If her health and welfare is dependent on people only saying nice things about her while she sits in a bar she needs help, help that does not come from a Restraining Order from a Court.

Her use of the legal system for such a matter she brought on herself, and her prior statements about her relationships with people in high places, also suggest she is willing and able to use the system to her advantage and not to the advantage of the Citizens of Grand Terrace. A mature level headed politician would have received the criticism and thanked the potential voter for the insight and left the room. A super politician would have sat down and had a conversation with the individual in an effort to turn that person's opinion.

Bea Cortes only had one thought. POOR ME, IT IS ALL ABOUT ME.... ME, ME, ME... Why don't they kiss my feet. WHY WHY WHY...

When that did not work, she goes into I'll get YOU Mode. She promised to get Jim Miller. Now she is out for anyone who has the temerity to say they don't like her comportment and politics. The court system in San Bernardino County should be aware of how it is being used by Bea Cortes. It makes the citizens then ask the next logical question, why does she get away with it. What has she done for them?
Grand Terrace needs Protection from Bea Cortes. Is there a court that will help us? To think we have to wait for the court of public opinion or an election and she can run to a judge and court system where she has insinuated she has "Friends" is sufficient for her.
Oh Bea is now associated with a Broker in San Diego so she is able to sell real estate again. Be careful what you say in negotiations she may run off to court if she doesn't like it.

MAYOR FERRE NOT TO RUN FOR RE-ELECTION

Mayor Ferre has announced she is not going to run for re-election. This comes after a year of great stress on the City Council. The shameful way both Tom Schwab and Steve Berry conducted themselves trying to secure the job of City Manager was just a part of the antics the Council had to deal with. Pending trial of Council Member Jim Miller and investigations of and Mayor Ferre and Bea Cortes may also influenced her decision to retire from political office.

The city has been driven into debt just as far as the city can go it is time to leave.

Let's hope the next election produces a City Council that knows how to ask questions, and demands answers from staff and the City Attorney. Let's hope the next election produces a City Council that will give public speakers equal time to point out flaws in Developers Presentations and Staff Recommendations.

With the End of the Ferre Era we will need at least 3 more citizens to step up and re-direct this city into a financially sound, and family oriented community it was intended to be. We are not Laguna Beach, or Disneyland, or Tyler Mall. We should not be trying to copy what is failing other communities. Look at all the empty retail space in Colton just below us. If that freeway accessible property cant fill up, why on earth will new higher cost buildings in GT attract businesses. Retail is not the way to go for Grand Terrace.

We need some jobs. We need jobs like the pump manufacturer, the Jerky Maker, Tap Out, and so forth. Made in Grand Terrace should be the next logo out of our city hall.

Well, good by Mayor Ferre. Enjoy the remainder of the DA's investigation. Now that Jim Miller is going to go forward with his trial, you are no doubt going to be called to court to testify in that case.

Where in the World is Steve Berry and Bea Cortes ?

Most reciently he is the pay to guy for Dr. Paul Chabot's Assembly Drive.

Mail to: Dr. Paul Chabot for Assembly · c/o Steve Berry ·2152 Skye Drive · Riverside, CA 92506 Email: steveberry2020@gmail.com or call 951/275-7596

He was also named as being on the IE's Meg Whitman's Team.

When you look who he associates with, well you make your own judgements. I for one will not vote for anyone who has their name associated with Steve Berry's even if he is picking up their trash.

But, hey that is just me.

As for Bea Cortes, sounds like you can find her at JB's Bar on a fairly regular basis. Did the judge give her the Bar in the Restraining Order? Is her Wellness truly so fragile that she can't handle a snarky but possibly true comment or evaluation? Perhaps Mental Health Department rather than the Courts is where she should go for help next time she finds herself insulted in a BAR.

Perhaps Ramos should finish up the investigation of Cortes and file charges before her mental health or wellness is at issue.

She is acting like a little Miss Prissy who thinks too much of herself. How dare the world disapprove of her actions and conduct. She proved that she has the court system at her fingertips. How many women can get a restraining order so quickly even after they have been beaten to a pulp in real blood and tissue? Bea needs protection from words and looks and gestures... Pathetic and a waste of court time and cost.

Did you miss the Senior Health Fair?

Gramps:

Last weekend I went to the Senior Wellness Fair at the Senior Center. I can say that I came away with some great contacts trinkets and some seeds. I noted that there was not any of City Council Members or City Manager or City Hall types there supporting or working at the event.

Citizens Patrol were there as a participant. The Chamber of Commerce was there also. The fair had more people than Market Night so I doubt they pulled off the event. So here is a question. Who organized and pulled off the event? It was well done and looked like the budget was minimal. Well done who ever you are.

A: I don't know. I missed it... some one help out here and email grandterracenews@yahoo.com to ID the person or people who put together the Senior Health Fair.

REMEMBER JUNE 26th is GRAND TERRACE DAYS
and it is again a
COMMUNITY EVENT so PLEASE HAVE FUN.

Fireworks in GT.

The City is making ready the location for the fireworks sales. Is this cost covered by the sports teams? How much does it cost to clear RDA land that Jacobsen should have to keep weed free all year round?

Next thought. Is it within code for a parking lot and driveway to be unpaved in Grand Terrace? Shouldn't there be at least a requirement for gravel to be put down or hourly water truck sprinkling, to abate the dust that will be produced. Not to over look the oil from dripping cars and trucks that will be going on bare ground, which is the justification for the city's ban of parking on "Unimproved Surfaces or Spaces" on your own property.

Dear Gramps: Re Fireworks...

I for one will not support Fireworks in GT and will vote against their use in the future.

More on Cortes.

Cortes in a Bar June 1st and again June 3rd. & is "Offended" by female patron both times. Is this justification for a restraining order?

THROW THE BUMS OUT!!! TART FIGHT AT JB'S IN GT..

The Sentinel: Councilwoman Cortes Seeks Restraining Order Against Constituent

Grand Terrace Councilwoman Bea Cortes, who has become a figure of some controversy in recent months, this week filed for and was granted a restraining order against one of her constituents. The incident that precipitated the filing grew out of an apparent misunderstanding on the councilwoman’s part or otherwise her belief that a citizen’s disapproval of the way in which she has conducted herself in office constituted a threat to her safety and well being.

The Sentinel has learned that on June 1, Cortes was seated at the bar at JB’s Bar and Grill. That evening, seated across the bar was another Grand Terrace resident, Kay Moore, who resides with her husband, Steve, in the 23000 block of Westwood Avenue. Kay Moore, who was familiar with who Cortes was and her position with the city, remarked upon Cortes’ presence to another patron. Moore made further note of her disagreement with Cortes’ politics.

Over the din of the tavern, Cortes could not hear exactly what Kay Moore had said but understood from Moore’s gesticulations and the glances that were cast her way that Moore had been talking about her. Cortes then approached Moore and asked her what she had said. Moore frankly responded that she was less than impressed with Cortes’ comportment in office and that she had a less than favorable impression of her. Shortly thereafter, Moore and her husband left JB’s.

According to Steve Moore, they were informed that Cortes had grown upset over the exchange the councilwoman had with his wife. On June 3, the Moores returned to JB’s. When Kay Moore encountered Cortes in the rest room, there was another tart exchange between the two women. On June 8, Kay Moore was served with papers, requiring her to be present in court the following morning to answer Cortes’ request from the court for a restraining order against her.

Kay Moore appeared at 8:30 a.m. on June 9 in the courtroom of Judge John Pacheco. The restraining order, based upon Cortes’ filing, was granted, effective June 9 through June 30. Since being elected to the Grand Terrace City Council in 2002, Cortes has had limited notoriety that did not emanate too far beyond the city of less than 13,000 population where she is an elected official. Over the last year, however, her reputation has expanded beyond the confines of Grand Terrace as she has become both a fixture and a symbol in unfolding revelations of the corruption of public officials in San Bernardino County.

Cortes has been publicly identified as being in a personal relationship with district attorney Mike Ramos, who filed felony conflict of interest charges against former Grand Terrace City Councilman Jim Miller based upon allegations that Miller voted to approve city payments to his wife’s newspaper, the Grand Terrace City News, for the publication of legal notices.

It has since been revealed that Cortes and former Grand Terrace assistant city manager Steve Berry had reported to the district attorney’s office the situation regarding Miller. Cortes did so despite her own embroilment in a situation nearly indistinguishable from Miller’s.

Cortes, like Miller, had voted as a member of the council to approve payments made to her employer, Terra Loma Real Estate, for services, including property management, that company had rendered to the city of Grand Terrace. Ramos, who has been romantically and politically linked to Cortes, has acknowledged that his office opened an investigation into her conflict of interest involving Terra Loma.

To date, however, no charges have been filed against Cortes. Miller, who has pleaded not guilty to the charge filed against him and is set to go to trial on the matter in August, has resigned from the city council. Cortes is up for reelection in November.

OK Vacation is OVER... I am Back....

Council Woman Bea Cortes in Bar Hussy Fit...
or was it a CAT FIGHT?

Get the claws sharpened folks. The news is that Bea Cortes has apparently be come a JB's Regular sufficiently enough to pay attention to who notices her and may be talking about her. HOW HIGH SCHOOL can you get. Remember she is a Council Member Folks...

In a Bar she takes offence at the "Looks and Gestures" another female patron directs in her direction. So offended she challenged the female patron to tell her to her face what she was saying. Not appreciative of that answer the had a second fit when the same patron was found in the ladies restroom on a second visit to the bar.

How many of us would recognize a person days latter? How many of us would have been sufficiently publicly humiliated for our own conduct to have just let the apparent insults go by. After all Ms. Cortes you are hanging out at a BAR and you yourself have sullied your own reputation by your own representations and actions.

Nope a mature adult who is free to conduct their lives as Ms Cortes seems to would just let the alleged insult pass the first time, and pretend to not recognise the transgressor the second time.

Ms. Cortes has no more rights to Civil Protection from insults than the fat woman in the store who gets immature glances from fellow shoppers. She continues to demonstrate her own immaturity, and arrogance and feeling of entitlement by her actions and reactions.

Oh poor Ms. Cortes she isn't loved by everyone in the city...

It is time we elect a sober and intelligent, mature, (NOT OLD) council member who has the CITIZENS needs first not their own petty feelings and self serving schemes.

Dear Gramps:

Ms. Cortes should receive a welcome feeling at all the up coming City Council Meeting. Citizens should whisper and glance her way all during the meeting. She is what she is, and I won't be voting for her that's for sure.

Dear Gramps:

Why is the City even thinking about Paying the City Attorney more for his services. They should be thinking about getting a Better City Attorney that will take the current one to court for bad representation and counsel.

Dear Gramps:

The call for Planning Commissioners to apply is interesting. Perhaps they will appoint some one who will hear all the public concerns and actually take public concerns to the council, planning department and to the developer. As it is now it is just a group of people who some times meet and only look at what is presented by the developer / planning department and does not respond well to public issues brought forth.

Dear Gramps:

Q: Where have you been...?

A: Gramps has been in an undisclosed location on vacation, away from the computer and email. I'll catch up over the weekend and then I'll be gone again for 4 weeks.

Dear Gramps:

Is the blog dead?

A: No but the issues are repeating over and over again so the need to beat the drum seems pointless. It is time that a couple of citizens get up and run for Council and get on the Planning Commission. GT needs to get a grip on reality and understand what is a REAL and Productive use of RDA funds and government spending.

Gramps

Q: Why are they making La Pax Street wider is it for JACOBSEN. Why isn't he paying for the road work that will benefit his development while it will hurt the residents adjacent to him?

A: This is a good question for the City Council, and perhaps cause for legal action. To have this road a priority while Grand Terrace Road and Terrace Road are about to be come dirt roads is offencive to the general public the city council and government is supposed to serve. Not that they care much unless you are giving them a dirty look or making gestures... then watch out..

More fires are started with fireworks than anyother cause in July.

Due to the severe fire season, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors and County Fire encourage residents to attend a locally sponsored 4th of July celebration and leave the fireworks displays to the experts.
