Grand Terrace man suspected of threatening teen

A Grand Terrace man was arrested Monday after he made obscene comments to a teen girl and threatened her, sheriff's officials said.

San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies booked Eric Smith, 41, into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on suspicion of annoying or molesting a child.

The 17-year-old victim was walking home in the 11700 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue about 12:30 p.m. when Smith approached and asked if he could walk with her.

Sheriff's officials said he made lewd and obscene comments to her during a conversation and then threatened her life.

Deputies searched the area and found Smith walking on Brentwood Street.
