Sheriff's deputies arrested a 17-year-old suspected tagger Wednesday in Grand Terrace.

An off-duty San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy saw the teen spraying graffiti on a brick wall at the corner of Pico Street and Mt. Vernon Avenue at 8:15 p.m., sheriff's officials said.

The deputy watched the teen until a deputy in a patrol car arrived. Sheriff's officials said the teen had black paint on his hands. He tossed a can of spray paint in some bushes before he was detained, but deputies were able to find it.

The teen was arrested and then released to a parent pending a court appearance.
