The City Manager has been asked for a presentation of actual drawings of the corner of Grand Terrace Road, and Mt. Vernon the Island, and the driveways and other facilities of the area for the past three meetings of the City Council. The pictures presented last meeting were deceptive from the point of perspective they were taken from, and they did not show possible solutions or impediments to making adjustments to the current lack of design planning.
Will there be a reflective paddle in place before the next meeting? Will there be a light perhaps even a solar light in place showing the edge of the island on both ends? Will there be actual plans, and drawings showing real alternatives not just what the City Manager wants?
Here is a suggestion:
The original intent of not painting two lane stripes south of Barton Road was that the traffic would merge into one single lane in preparation to going down the single lane hill. It would be appropriate that the lane created north of Brentwood be used as a parking lane for the residents up to the point of 35 Ft of the corner of Grand Terrace/Mt Vernon where the right turn lane could be made available for right turns only.
Reduce the speed limit within the city to 35mph maximum. There is no need to rush through the small city, nor to encourage the waste of fuel caused by the "need" to accelerate and decelerate between stop signs and signals that are so close together. The slower speed limit may encourage folks passing through town to either stop and shop, or stay on the freeway.
