COLTON
High school name on board agenda again
The Colton school board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to consider altering the name of Ray Abril High School in Grand Terrace.
Trustee Robert Armenta Jr. has proposed that the school be called Grand Terrace High School at the Ray Abril Jr. Educational Complex.
Grand Terrace residents were outraged by the Colton Joint Unified School District board's decision to name their community's long-awaited high school after Abril, a former trustee who served on the board for 28 years, instead of after their city. Armenta said in a statement that his proposal honors both the city and Abril.
The meeting will be in the Student Services Center Board Room, 851 S. Mount Vernon Ave.
