Aug 8 2009 City Council Pkt Available...

It has been an issue of this blog that more and timely information comes from the city. This has been done incrementally and with resistance over time.

For example. Council Member Walt indicated during the council meeting there had been an armed robbery and asked that the Business owners have a notification tree so they can be informed and on the alert.

The detail has been added to the Credit Card Charges. Note on that there seems to be a significant amount of small tools being constantly replaced by the city's Maintenance Department. Is there a need for property control at the Maintenance Department?

It would be nice if the detail was available on all charge cards for the past years.

There is an email included in the packet that indicates that the funds received from the Red Light Violations was "inadvertently" posted to other fund accounts and subsequently spent. This defies the word meaning of inadvertent. It takes thought and determination to divide up funds that are received into different funds and then to spend those funds. Inadvertent means without thought.

Inadvertent is when you put something on the lower rack of the shopping cart and forget to put it on the register. However, if you take a case of caviar and hide it in a head of romaine lettuce and go through the check out line.. that is not inadvertent, that is intentional fraud, theft, and a crime. More than one person was most likely involved in the decisions of where to put the money, and how to spend it so add conspiracy to the possible criminal charges. Where the money went and who authorized it being posted to fund accounts other than the Red light account should be determined and proper action taken immediately. Yes Grand Terrace should pay its bill to the Red Light Company. This is not the only issue that needs to be cleared up in this situation.

Traffic and Parking for the Elementary School was a NON Problem when Planning the Senior Center and Housing... Solution is simple. If you are not picking up children don't drive any where near a school during the pick up rush... wait 30 minutes and it will all be cleared up. It is called common sense..
