"The Sign is Up at the HS#3", this according to the Mayor Ferre is a Proof that the School will be built on that site, for “Our Students”.
The Sign Indicating the Demarcation of Grand Terrace and Colton indicates the portion of Mt. Vernon North of Grand Terrace Rd… aka “Jap Hill”, is in the City of Colton, yet GT Maintenance Crews were cleaning up trash and weeds.
The Sign says Grand Terrace Rd, yet the City of Riverside has been patching the road from Barton to its Water Lift Station… just past Vivienda…
The Sign says Park…. But please don’t, just drive by and look at it…
The Sign says 45mph along Barton Rd between Mt. Vernon and Washington,,, and because people speed, and break the law the sign and the speed will change disregarding the safety of the community, drivers and speeders rule the law in the community. Council Members and Staff brag on how difficult it is to drive a slower speed through our town.
When some on the Council say “ I thought the plan included “Transportation””, or in past meetings, I don’t read the Council Book, I wait till the meeting to get the feel of the idea and the staff report… I like the spontaneity of it… When others say “We never used Eminent Domain”, and so forth I have to ask once again is this the best we can do for City Council Members? Signs are Bad when Staff Boasts we got the Park Land (Pocket Park) by refusing to approve a development application unless the park land was provided. Note to citizens…. Developers pay park development fees, they should not have land extorted from them in order to get plans approved.
Signs are bad when Council Member Miller reprints the assurance that a Citizen living in their Residential Zoned Property will not face the use of Eminent Domain, the line of the City Manager and Legal Advisor… and fails to mention that Zoning of Your property can be changed from Residential to Commercial at the whim of the City Staff and City Manager at the request of a developer they favor, should void any assurances that Ownership or full enjoyment of your property is guaranteed in Grand Terrace.
Signs are bad when the Pocket Park is not using Solar PV Lights, and the Park Funds are not used to Change all park lighting to PV Lights and PV Cells.
Signs are bad when the Proposed Senior Center is not required to have a Solar Cell Roof and Parking Structure.
The City Council is from the same party that brought us… these signs and events…
Mission Complete… Good Job Brownie… Alberto Gonzales, …… Boarder Patrol Officers in Jail and Drug Smugglers go free. Hmm… not all politics are local, but the Signs sure are similar in their value. Is Tom Schwab the equivalent of Carl Rove?
IF the Sign Says it does not make it happen Mayor Ferre.
Shame on you all...
Gramps RE Signs..
You forgot mention of certain signs in the Sunday posting.
I believe there was mention in original environmental report that the Colton School District was going to erect directional and information signs from downtown G.T. to the new high school. As Michigan is most direct route, but unable to support the large bus traffic it was proposed that until the residents of the City of G.T. float another bond measure and improve, and that land frontage from residents and widen the street there were going to be a series of signs placed along main streets of town.
Several signs along Mt. Vernon, pointed south to Main Street and then west to the high school, and another group of signs along Barton Road directing traffic towards La Cadena, then towards Iowa and finally to Main street and east. I don't remember if mention was made on signs within Riverside County explaining drivers how to steer the proper direction. As the report did not mention much of anything within neighboring Riverside County, doubtful any were to be placed there. All these signs which tell the visitors, parents, bus drivers to avoid the use of Michigan, 'least until the residents of the City of G.T. can pay for the improvements.
And per news at the Blog recently. Wasn't there supposed to be another sign at the Michigan and Main school site indicating "Sorry, we blew most of the bond money we collected on other things. Guess you will have to wait a bit longer for construction costs to decrease in order for the District to start. Plus this may depend upon the passing of another bond issue to replace the original one. Trust us." If the new sign by the Mayor and C. Mgr. happens to rot away or fall over while we are waiting with yet another...then do not set back up.
