GRAND TERRACE Council to consider forming citizen group

The City Council today will consider adopting a resolution establishing a Grand Terrace Citizen Corps Council.

During his 2002 State of the Union address, President Bush announced the creation of the USA Freedom Corps.

Citizen Corps is a part of the USA Freedom Corps that encompasses public education, training and volunteer opportunities to engage citizens in helping make communities safer, including being better prepared to prevent and respond to terrorism and other disasters.

The program in Grand Terrace would bring together leaders in law enforcement, fire services and the private sector to improve emergency response and homeland security.

The council meets at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers, Civic Center, 22795 Grand Terrace Road.
