In the News & From the Email InBox: SUBS SUBS SUBS

SUBS SUBS SUBS....

FUEL for grumbling stomachs
GRAND TERRACE - Sandwich-starved residents, we know your stomachs are growling because there's only one sub shop in town. We have news that will hopefully make those hunger pangs subside. Two more sandwich shops will be here soon. Subway is coming to the corner of Barton Road and Mount Vernon Avenue next to the CVS Pharmacy, and Quiznos is opening inside the Shell gas station planned just east of Interstate 215 at Barton. Both restaurants should arrive in a month or two, city officials say. http://www.sbsun.com/news/ci_5149744

From the Email InBox:

Soon we will be the Fast Food/Freeway Alternative Route for Commuters. Added to this will be the additional Liquor Outlets and availability at the 7/11(Shell)(Quiznos), CVS DRUG/Liquor Store, Drug/Liquor Store on Michigan and Barton, and a Larger Liquor Section in the Mega Staters. Add this to the Grand Terrace Liquor Store, JB's or the Lighthouse, Smart Time, Quick Stop, Arco, Chevron and the back fill store in the current Staters Location, all selling alcohol for on or off site consumption along Barton Rd. Now picture cities that have a liquor store or vendor every few feet. Ask your self if those communities are crime free, prosperous, and that the increased sales tax pays for sufficient police enforcement to off set the increase in crime not to mention the damage to families the crimes and activity promote.

GT has passed the saturation point for liquor licenses yet more businesses with liquor licenses are being planned. Many of these in the proximity of Grand Terrace Elementary School. This should be a concern of the CJUSD School Board, the Parents, the Citizens of the Community, other businesses, and dare I say it the City Council.

What is next Gun Shops... dressed up as Sports Stores?
