The Planning and Council meeting were packed with citizens in opposition to the development this council has brought to the City. It is not just a few as Brian would like people to believe. The AES plant will have trucks coming into the City and pass the high school carrying Sulfuric Acid and Ammonia. AES own report says if there is a spill or Hazmat emergency response time will be from 30 minutes to an hour. AES, in their own report says these trucks will not go "in front of the high school". They will have to pass the side of the school and within or less than a thousand feet. Even former Council member Hilkey warned the Council about this project.
Why is it that Mr. Rienharz thinks he is the last word on the rights of the citizens to protest what the local government does. Again, hundreds of people voiced their objections and the Council, some who took campagin contributions from the developers, ignored them. I would think Mr. Rienharz might ask why the city is in such dire straits and how it got there.
The City won't be honest, the mirage of the 5 million dollar reserve is a prime example. Council member Hilkey even questioned Mr. Schwab as to why the City was being run with RDA funds. The payment to Mr. Johnson was taken from CRA funds. When Mr. Rienharz will provide documentation to prove he is right and everyone else is wrong, which he has been asked to do many times and can't, then maybe he might have some credibility.
As it stands now he just has an opinion and an uninformed one of his own choosing.

When Brian, takes the word of the official, in the case of the Library, or the City and fails to appreciate the view, and perspective of citizens who were there he positions himself with the oppressor of civil rights in nearly every issue he takes up. Yes, equal use of public places is a civil right. Folks like Brian are upon which Hitler, Saddam, and their ilk depend.
The Librarian's actions were wrong, wrong in intent, wrong in thinking, wrong in how she handled the situation. There was no cause for the librarian to even speak to the people who were looking into the AES Power Plant. They were not disorderly, or disruptive, they could have been facilitated and hosted with hospitality, rather than hostility and an eviction. When asked to leave, yes, people were upset. Naturally.
If 8 Students came in with a Class Project that had a List or as the Librarian would say an Agenda, would they be held up to needing an pre-arranged use appointment, insurance, and a blessing from above? I dare say this situation would not have happened in any other County Library Branch. This Librarian has gone over the line in this case and should be removed, retrained and perhaps we should consider our support for the Private Library for Some. The question must be asked why did she chose "These People" or more to the point "That Person" for her power play. The Librarian's Motive, should be questioned, not the responce to the action that resulted from the Librarian's actions.

With the notable exceptions of Patricia Farley, Bill Hays, and Chuck Hornsby, none of you even have enough courage to let the residents of Grand Terrace know your name. How firm are you in your convictions are you when you are ashamed to attach your name? Ms Farley, Mr Hays, and Mr Hornsby have alot to say, and I feel, contribute a great deal to the debate and the community. They are busily holding themselves and their community to an ideal, and they believe in what they say; whether I agree with it or not. I have the utmost respect for all three of these individuals.
The rest of you are simply a pack of sniveling cowards, hiding behind your anonymity out of fear of some supposed manufactured retribution that will occur.

As far as your "Hitler and Saddam" remark, I served this country honorably for 22 years, standing up against exactly that of which you accuse me. How about you? Who are you? What have you done? Have you ever served? Lets have some names so your record and service can be brought to the light of day. See how this works? Am I a dictator simply because I expect a certain level of civility from the residents of this community? Of the almost 13,000 residents who live here, your little group of cowards numbers only a few. The rest are fine, upstanding, courageous citizens who proudly stand and give their name and address if they take issue with something or someone.
By the way... I've made it clear on several occasions that I am not necessarily in favor of this AES plant.
So...until you can maintain a civil, above-board, open dialog...your opinion means absolutely nothing to this community. Perhaps you don't even live here...how would we know?

Brian:I'll post this as I have posted the others... However, if you feel so strongly about the post having no credibility, and are a bunch of mush... why on earth are you compelled to read the posts to begin with. Recall that you put your logic base and facts in question by your posts.
If as you suggest no one reads the GTNB and no one Pays Attention or gives Credibility to the posts why on earth trouble yourself with people you consider to be as you characterize them. You provoke interesting responses that is for sure.
I think that some of the spelling errors are done with the intent to see who finds them. I don't have time as a rule to check every email. In addition, the blog site on occasion will drop letters for some strange reason. Either way, this is not a blog about the English Language and Standardized Spelling so your snipes only are snipes, noise and are examples of diversions off of the topics and issues of the blog.
There is no reason to respond to this, and I have no reason to respond to you in the future.
Your inability to get off the who's the writer, who's Gramps is a bore and is so not the issue of the blog I have no further interest in writing to you, or responding to your posts. This however is not saying that I won't post your posts or let other people reply to them. That is just how it is.

The opinion posted on this site have been based on documented facts. The opinions and innuendos posted on the other site are just that. Based on nothing but opinion and backed by no published facts. Councilman Hilkey stated before he left the Council that City Hall and the Council are afraid as to information the citizens can bring to the public. The other site is just a blog. It serves no public good except where one person can give his opinion and carries no proof to anything it publishes. He has the right to do that, but don't throw tantrums when you are asked to prove what you say.

Show us a copy of a restraining order against the Known Trouble Maker who was expelled from the library. Seems from Your Writing Brian, her name is known to you... go interview her. Perhaps she will give you the names of the other 7 citizens who live near the AES Power Plant who were ejected along with her. Good Luck. You may find out if the Call to the Sheriff was made what the report says, and when it was taken, and filed. Is there an Arrest Warrant, ore Restraining Order out for the Individual you claim was the Cause of the events? Or was it the Librarian's action that caused a reaction?
Boo... I live in Grand Terrace, Served in WWII and Korea and VietNamn and Brian, you need to get new marching orders and new tactics. You don't know me, and I'd rather not know you, nor are we important to the issues that this blog tries to focus on. Get over your self, and the need to know who has provided what document or what opinion. The Idea, Proof, and Opinion is what is of import, not who thought of it.

Again, you miss the point. The point of attaching your name is not so you can receive credit for ideas. It's so others can research the agenda behind your personal attacks, or the possible reasons behind your opinions. I have been checked and re-checked by you guys. The only way this was possible is because I attached my name in the spirit of openness and honor. You say you don't attach a name out of fear of retaliation, then you retaliate against me when I attach my name. Kinda funny huh? You constantly clamor for openness, yet you remain closed. It just doesn't make sense. I have no problem with anonymity if a specific viewpoint may place someone in harm's way, but come on...this is Grand Terrace. I think that a major part of the problem stems from the probability that most of these, "from the e-mail in-box" posts come directly from the keyboard of GrandPa Terrace himself. Yet another layer of deception. Kinda hypocritical, isn't it? He's not likely to identify himself...is he? Perhaps you'd carry some credibility if you conducted yourself as Ms Farley, Mr Hays, and Mr Hornsby, our true community activists, conduct themselves. Show some pride in yourself!
