From the Email InBox: Focus on the Issues

From the Email InBox:

Dear Gramps:

The Library Issue needs to be taken to the County Board of Supervisors, and to the Chief Librarian of San Bernardino County. Listed below are court cases pending and their progress on the Court Calendar. It is important not to let the Personality of Brian Distract from the real issues pending in Grand Terrace.

Fireworks Ordinance will have to be revised to include the requirements of the Motion Approved at the Last City Council Meeting. Those are: That the Firework Supplier pays for one day of enforcement activity, the Sports teams pay a 3 percent surcharge to the city and the city provide for 2 days of enforcement. Note this still cost the city 4,000.00 to 8,000.00 to let the Sports Teams earn 16,000.00 makes enforcement more difficult, and puts everyone at risk. The motion also included the stipulation that the sports teams make effort to raise money some other way. Perhaps they should be held into account to report back to the Council as to their progress.

Plans for Occupants for the Town Center. To begin with there has not been a Plan B presented to Planning or the City Council. However, plans provided the court indicate there are plans to increase the number of Liquor Licenses well past the ABC standards. Given the location near the school, and the number of existing licenses in close proximity the apparent intended tenants of an additional Drug/Liquor Store, and a Chili’s Bar and Grill and a Mega Stater’s with a larger Liquor Section seem to be in conflict with the location and regulations, and the health and well being of the community on many levels.

Remember that Meeting that Jacobsen said would happen as the development plans evolved…? What Meetings? Who has indicated we need more Liquor Outlets near the Schools or on the main road?

Where are the Environmental Impact Plans for the Development of Plan B? Where are the replacement housing for the Middle Income Folks displaced by the Redevelopment Agency/Jacobsen team working with the threat of Eminent Domain to buy out property owners? None of these things have been published, what has been provided is half truths and out right fiction.

Miguel’s Owner, and yes even Doug Jacobsen have been ill served by their association with the City’s Redevelopment Agency and its Director.

AES Power Plant and the High School #3 are also important issues to keep track of.

Where is the Payment and Deposit Reciept for the Car that apparently Steve Berry aquired from the city without public notice of sale of city property? Which bank account did those funds end up in?

Same “Group” of people brought to attention the Flaws in the Paperwork related to Manhole Builder’s Plan to build in a flood plain, in an area without sufficient roads, and at high risk of flooding. (Of course this too had no “Merit” and it was reversed or sent back to the Planning Commission and then refused.) This Case did not have to go to Court. Perhaps because Friends of the City Council and Chamber of Commerce live in the area and were also alerted to the problem being invited upon their doorstep.
