It is great news that the 40 Percent of water the Water Company was losing has been stoped. This is fantastic... it brings to question what took so long...
Now with power about to become a bigger issue and no more water losses to recaptuer the following thoughts came to mind as the meeting proceeded.
One, the Water Company could use Solar Power to power its pumps... The Solar Power could even convert Water into Hydrogen at the same time.
Two: Water being pumped up to storage then flows down to homes. Is there any way to run small in-line power generators? So when you turned on the water, the water company would be generating power to pump more water... It wouldn't zero out their need for water, but we know there are kilowatts in that water moving down hill and through the pipes...
Three: Is there a way for the City to stop watering Mt Vernon? The water runs onto the street when the "Island" near Canal Street waters the City Planted Plants. This sets a bad example.
Fourth: Is there a use for the water that is lost during the purge of the pipes? Irrigation to the parks? Or even Yards of Home Owners rather than sending it all down the road?
