Well all along I felt Loader would be a good fifth man if the Stanckiewits, Sandoval and Robles candidates were all successful. Well, now what? Good question, Open Seats like this in the past were filled by appointment after folks stepped up and said they were available for service.
Who will step up I don't know. The losing candidates in the past election no doubt have the advantage of having done all the paper work needed to be a City Council Member/Candidate. This does not preclude a non Candidate from tossing their name into the hat.
The process goes like this after an "Interview" where each is asked a list of questions, the existing members of the City Council are asked to pick their top 3 choices. Those choices are ranked and then the totals tallied and the person with the most votes wins.
So much for the process. Now who?
Well, lets assume that all the former candidates apply. None except Sylvia Robles came close to winning the communities support. She came within 34 votes of winning the seat she ran for. She got nearly double the votes of any other candidate remaining. Now why on earth would she be supported by Mc Naboe and Garcia in the selection process. Well, would they like to face her as an opponent in 2 years, or on the same ticket running as an incumbent? That is the political reason for a decision. Another reason is she has both the education and real life work experience that is a fit for this City Council Mix. So IF she were inclined to toss her name in to that tattered hat... Don't be surprised that she is accepted if not promoted by Mc Noboe and Garcia.
This blog grouped the Stanckiewitz & Sandoval Campaign with Robles, and on some issues they are in agreement and others they are not. Not being all knowing there is no way of telling who any of the Council Members voting will support or not support. This blog can only hope that at this time the appointment would be Sylvia Robles. Of course, Ive been known to change my mind if some one more qualified comes along, and sells me of their qualifications and commitment to the Financial Soundness of the City of Grand Terrace and Sustainability. It is clear that 1,300+ voters wanted her on the council.
