Dear Grandpa Terrace,
Good article on the Riverside-Highland Water Companies following in the footsteps of our City Council and Staff. They must share the motto "Tell Them Anything But The Truth"
Your article fails to mention that William J. McKeever is president of the Water Board and if your readers click on page four and enlarge it, it appears that William J. McKeever's Civil Engineering Company also prepared the site plans. I would think a good question that we as stock holders should call and ask the Riverside-Highland Water Company is how much did they pay Mr. McKeevers company for the plans, are there individual offices planned for each of the Board members and why after all these years being at the same location do they need such a massive building in a residential neighborhood? You are right about the obvious unseemly relationship between those that are " Apples of the Council Eye's" and the Council. This is nothing more than the Council also controlling the Water Company.
Councilwoman Cortes and Councilman Millers vote for the underhanded Dodson property deal in closed session and then recluses themselves on the votes on the checks. And who, disguised as mild mannered Mrs. Miller, does work for the real estate company that is owned by a former mayor, that is also Mrs. Dodson brother-in-law, that ALSO did the backroom negotiating on this $1,290,000 piece of property that was originally listed at $750,000. Our Mayor, after the two closed session, and in violation of the Brown Act claimed that "No reportable action was taken". Such behavior out of a former Sunday School teacher. I guess you don't have to believe what you teach.
Councilman Miller is the real estate manager for San Bernardino County. He was the negotiator on the Arliss street house, that the city stated they don't have to tell us who bought it, and at the same time of the negotiations Mr. Miller was Councilman elect. Now we have have Councilwoman Cortes working for the same real estate company. "You scratch my back" form of City Government. In fact the assessor's office shows the Councilwoman owns property in Colton and Grand Terrace and drives a very nice MB. I oft wondered where she worked before Terra Loma employed her again. Perhaps she never left their employment. It would be so enlightening if all council members and City staff management would make their tax returns public.
Nothing here is going to change until the citizens change it. There are two very good candidates that have expressed interest in running for council and Mayor. When they make their candidacies known we must support them to begin the process of returning honest government and the City to the people. Bare in mind County Supervisor Hansburger fired the registrar of Voters last year and replaced him with his own guy. Supervisor Postmus is not going to run for the Board of Supervisors this year he is going to run for County Assessor. I hope the people realize the amount of money the political machine will control in this county.
