Measures for Next Election

Each numbered item should be voted yes or no.

Measure M2, to Define the Office of Grand Terrace City Mayor:

1 Any current city council member running for mayor must resign their seat upon declaration of Mayoral Candidacy.
2 Appointed replacements will serve until the next even year election.

3 Equal Footing shall be given to any person of legal residence, and otherwise qualified to serve, may be elected by write in vote without having submitted a petition, or declaration. This provides for the public to make a grass roots popular selection without restraints of petitions, filing, and negative campaigning.

Person elected as Mayor shall:

4 Review and approve all contracts insuring competitive bid process has been practiced.

5 Review and approve Council Meeting Agenda Plans Review and hold accountable the City Manager and City Staff for their conduct of City Business.

6 Vote as an equal with other council members Conduct Meetings of the Council unless second is appointed by the Mayor, to do so.

7 Head the Redevelopment Agency while it is in existence.

8 Attend all Planning Commission Meetings and issue full disclosure of all meetings to the public.

9 The Mayor represents Grand Terrace at all out of City Meetings, unless a second has been appointed by the Mayor.

10 The Mayor is accountable for all city travel expense accounting.

11 The Mayor shall serve a 2 year term

12 The Mayor shall serve a 4 year term
or
13 The Mayor shall serve a 6 year term
or
14 The Mayor shall receive the same compensation rate for meetings as the city council members.

15 The Mayor shall appoint Council Members to Committee Assignments.

16 Persistent and Flagrant Dereliction of Council Member Duties shall be cause for fines or forfeiture of council seat.

17 Compensation increases of a Mayor or City Council member will not be increased unless approved by ballot referendum and will not take effect for two election cycles, and then only if the funds are available.

Measure GT T

1 Traffic and its speed of travel in the City of Grand Terrace shall be no greater than 35 mph on Mt. Vernon and Grand Terrace Road, and no greater than 25 mph on any other city street.

LEV’s and NEVs henceforth will be able to travel on any street within Grand Terrace, encouraging local sales, jobs and community activities.

Measure GT "G" oat

1 The city of GT will provide a location suitable for goat herd retention to remove grasses and brush in the city. Local 4H or FFA groups may use these facilities free of charge, and other herds are welcome to use the facilities up to the population they are designed for. Protection of at risk species of plants shall be done by proper herd practices, cage or fence or supervision.
