Physical Assault on Public Sidewalk

A publicly visible assault took place at the corner of Mt. Vernon and De Soto. The assault was actually off the Terrace Hills Middle School. However, it took place as the students were being released from school. The victim of the beating was struck several times with closed fists, and eventually lost his footing. It appeared that the assailant tried to push the victim into the street into on coming traffic. A large white car positioned itself so that no one could be struck by on coming traffic.

Horns were sounded and a school official arrived carrying a radio talkie. The assailant who wore a read checked shirt ran into the Crest Apartments.

This is an example of the dangers in our city. This could have easily ended in a head injury or a traffic involved accident. This is no less than attempted murder. Will the next time these "boys" meet end in a death?

There needs to be more police, or persons available to make arrests and file reports, on patrol in the city at all times. Perhaps Colton PD or could provide better service to the school and community.
