Schwab/Berry Administration Continues To Hurt GT

Schwab & his hire Berry actively pushed the location of the GT High School onto property that was formerly Commercial/Industrial Zoned, and linked the City's Ball Parks to the High School's development promising a "Shared Facility".

"Gadflies" or Citizens tried to warn the City Council that High School Sports schedules and facilities would be a conflict in the use of the ball parks. The Schwab/Berry team tagged assuring the City Council that they would be able to work out an arrangement.

Arrangements like this should have been "Worked Out" prior to handing over the property. That would be called good management practices and protecting the interests of the Citizens of Grand Terrace.

School fields have very little non used time. The School District should be able to designate when those times will be and make the fields and facilities available to the public. Are their base ball or soft ball leagues that are for older children and youth and adults that could use the High School Fields? Perhaps additional little league facilities could be put at the Elementary Schools and Jr. High School. Those facilities should include a restroom and snack bar facility for "Non School Use". That would be real facilities sharing.

Just another example of why Tom Schwab should not be on the City Council..

The Grand Terrace City Council will be asked Tuesday night to cancel an agreement allowing local Little Leaguers to use a ball field at the new high school in town.

The city turned over three ball fields to the Colton Joint Unified School District in 2006 for use as part of the new Grand Terrace High School at the Ray Abril Jr. Educational Complex in Grand Terrace. A joint use agreement with the school district would have allowed the Grand Terrace Little League to use high school fields when the school opens next year.

City officials have been told the high school fields are too large to be used by the Little League. The city is looking to build a new Little League field.

The council meets at 6 p.m. in its chambers at 22795 Barton Road in Grand Terrace.
