Sylvia Robles, a thirty-two year resident of Grand Terrace, has filed with the city clerk, a “Candidate Intention Statement,” this declares her decision to run for city council in this year’s November election. She will seek the un-expired term created when Jim Miller resigned the council.
Robles, now retired, has 25 years of local government experience; her past work experience, with the County of San Bernardino, has included six years as a Program Manager with the Community Action Agency, a combined six years as Field Representative for former County Supervisors’ David Mc Kenna and Barbara Riordan and lastly, thirteen years as a budget analyst with the Special Districts Department. Robles, has a Bachelor of Arts in Business and a Master’s in Public Administration. She has been married thirty-six years to husband Robert Robles. They have three adult children and nine grandchildren.
Robles has decided to run, in light of the tremendous opportunity, to present citizens with a choice for a new mayor and two council representatives. Robles, believes the City of Grand Terrace has functioned, in a fashion, that shrouds citizens from activities and expenditures that beg for greater disclosure and public debate. Robles, if elected, promises to listen to all points of view and expand the role of citizen input at council meetings. She recognizes the fiscal emergency in our city and plans to use her knowledge in public budgeting to make sure city revenues are spent in a prudent fashion.
