Here are the Facts Needed to Understand the Fireworks Question. It would be refreshing if the Facts were Provided prior to the City saying Lets do it again, because the Sports Teams want it.

How much did it cost the City?

Additional Patrol Persons
Additional Firemen
Cost of Blue Mt. Fire
Cost of Insurance on RDA land where the Sales Trailer was prior to it being transferred to Jacobsen Family Holdings.
Increase or Change in City Insurance if Fireworks are or are not allowed at all in the city.
Calls of Related Disturbances
Number of Citations, Confiscations, and Arrests
Disposal of Confiscated Hazardous Materials
Complaints, Calls on and Arrests for Related Loud Party Reports
Cost of Court Cases, Booking Fees and Jail Time
Number of Dogs and Pets Lost Week Prior and After the 4th.
Number of Dogs and Pets eaten after the Fire on Blue Mt.
Cost of Trapper
Cost of Animal Shelter / Calls lose dogs.
Income to City from the sale...
Income to City from the Sports Teams Payment for use of lights and field.
Income to the Sports Teams.

No Houses or Personal Injury is known, but is that a result of LUCK or Design?

Add it up... No Fireworks, and the City would be able to provide direct funding to Youth Sports to off set short comings to their alternative fund raising efforts of equal time and effort is put forth, say hosting a 4th of July Party at Pico Park... or Rollings Park... Open the Pool Barbecue, have a band or DJ playing Patriotic Music... water games, Ice cream churning contests... ANYTHING BUT what has been happening for the FIREWORKS Try it One More Year Folks. It wasn't better this year, it only cost more.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST IF IT BURNS YOUR HOUSE, YOUR CHILD, OR YOUR APARTMENT, SCHOOL, CHURCH, OR BRING HARM ON YOU IN SOME OF ANY NUMBER OF WAYS? WILL THE CITY PAY FOR THESE COSTS? WILL THE SPORTS TEAM REBUILD MY HOUSE, WHEN THEIR SAFE AND SANE FIREWORK SETS MY HOUSE ON FIRE? PERHAPS THE NEW COUNCIL MEMBER WILL BE ABLE TO BRING REASONS TO REVERSE THIS LOVE OF FIREWORKS AS A FUNDING TACTIC.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GRANDFATHERED IN RIGHTS OF THOSE OF US WHO BOUGHT IN GRAND TERRACE AS A NO FIREWORK ZONE? WHAT OF OUR PEACE AND RIGHTS?
