The Grand Terrace Woman's Club, the Store New 2 You, the Grand Terrace City News, the American Red Cross, groups and individual citizens are all responding to see that the needs of the fire displaced families are met.
This is the same quality of conduct that we should all aspire for daily when there is not an urgent need. Have you helped a neighbor lately... ? If you see a garden that needs help, have you offered to do as little as offer the use of your empty green trash can? It can be that simple. Help one another, get to know your neighbor...
It shouldn't take a fire. But now that a fire has happened it is great folks are trying to help set people up in their new homes. Immediate needs are one thing, it is important for them we don't forget them in a month or year. The loss due to fire will impact them past the replacement of things... the experience of loss will carry its own unknown effects. The Red Cross knows this, and it is important for our friends and neighbors to also be aware of this, as we all recover from the fire.
Yes I say we all recover. We all experienced that fire. The Sight, the Fear, the Smell, the Shared Loss, and recovery. We all experienced the event. It is required to recognize that we Experienced it, and we Learn or Appreciate the Experience and make the lessons positive in our lives and in the lives of others. I could suggest that be it a Welder or a Firework Fire is Fire. Safety Is An Action.
What folks need may be found on Craigs List for Free or low cost, those of you with a truck can help to transport things...
Thank you, thank you all.
