SB COUNTY
Colton residents help GT fire victims
Colton residents will be collecting clothing and other necessities for residents of a Grand Terrace apartment building on De Berry Street who were recently displaced by a fire.
Donations will be accepted from noon to 3 p.m. today at 1420 N. Rancho Ave., at Herberts Lane, in Colton. Organizers of the donations drive, accompanied by a group of Harley Davidson motorcycle owners, will transport the goods to Grand Terrace.
Nearly 30 residents were forced from their apartments Tuesday when a fire broke out at a complex on De Berry Street in Grand Terrace.
For more information, call organizer Cynthia DeLaRosa at (909) 825-2194.
Gramps Adds:
Colton and Grand Terrace relationships overlap and this is an example of our ties to the City of Colton. Many of our Grand Terrace Residents attend Churches, Senior and Youth Activities provided in the City of Colton.
The folks who have found themselves dislocated by the fire will appreciate not only the clothes but a repair to their feeling of security as each effort to provide a replacement of their material items is a human contact of reassurance saying we care, and it will work out ok.
When we give what we can, often what we have to give is surplus to us and needed by others or even if it is a sacrafice to give, we give more than the material thing, we give a touch of human concern for another person.
It would be nice to know if there are any special size request when it comes to clothes, or perhaps a shopping fund could be established.
The Red Flag Conditions are here again today... Be fire safe out there... use caution.
Thank you all for helping others. There is need in our community continue to be good neighbors.
