Applicants For City Council Member: Names Available

Andrew Anaya - Don't know him, and no record of his attending City Hall Meetings can be found.

Amanda Betten - Group Activist in changing the Name of Grand Terrace High School. Amanda Betten, part of a community group that is encouraging parents to opt their children out of state testing in protest, said after the board's decision against changing the name that Grand Terrace High proponents plan to up their efforts, even if it means the struggling district faces academic sanctions. Can not find any additional issues of interest. Find she has attended 1 city council meeting regarding the naming of the High School. ?

Fabian Carballo: Candidate for 2006 General Election. Ran for Colton Council Member received 378 votes 36.99%. District 4. No evidence he has attended a GT City Hall Meeting.

Lloyd Dodd: 2006 Candidate for City Council Member Ran for Cortes Seat. Received 1138 votes or 39.15% of votes in a 2 way race. Supported by this blog during that campaign. However not the preferred pick from this field of applicants. Member of Citizen Patrol. No significant attendance at City Council Meetings.

Gene Hays: President of Blue Mountain Beer Company. Desired to put a Pub/Brewery in GT, near the Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Fire Station. See Agenda Packet 09022010. No other record of attendance of City Hall /Chamber Meetings.

Herman Hilkey-Former City Council Member during Schwab City Managership. Most recently wanted to ask the City Council to change his life insurance perk to a medical insurance perk so he would not have to pay income taxes on it. Resigned from the City Council not full filling the full term. But, he did stay in just long enough to receive the perk of life time insurance payment. He is an educator. He supported Tom Schwab in the past, and Bea Cortes in the past, and of course during the most recent election he headed the Vote for Fireworks campaign. He was distressed by the amount and deal made for the Dotson Property, and it was after he expressed this that there was sufficient pressures put on him that he resigned from the City Council. No we don't need to return this Schwab/Berry era Council Member to City Hall.

William Hussey (Bill) -Has spoken as a community member to the CJUSD. No record of attendance or issue with the City Council.?

Mark Roberts -He has spoken before the Planning Comm. and the City Council throughout the years. He has contributed ideas to the City to help GT growth issues (both commerical and residential).Kentfield Street Construction / Development for example. He has experience in land use and transportation. He is now employed by the Dept. of Transportation as a Senior Transportation Planner.

Sylvia Robles.-Ran for City Council 2010 received 1727 Votes in a two way race, or 49.36 % of the votes. She is trained and experienced government financial and budget specialist. Supports government transparency and has aided governments in their planning and budgeting during difficult fiscal periods in the past. Gramps still supports Sylvia Robles as an Appointment.

Tomas Schwab-Former City Manager: Covered up and stopped criminal investigation of Steve Berry. Covered up political moonlighting by Steve Berry. Arranged the provision of a home to himself at city expense. Failed to properly contract with developers and service providers. Failed to pay payroll taxes on Council and Board Stipends, then defended his position even after IRS and others proved him to have made an error and false statements. Mark this as NO NO WAY NO HOW. NEVER The new City Manager does not need someone on the City Council defending the Past Administration's failures and bad judgement and bad practices. That will not move GT forward. Oh and it was he who said. I the CRA Director lent the City of GT for whom he was the City Manager Millions of Dollars with having NO INTENTION TO PAY IT BACK. No we don't need that back in City Hall.

Ryan Stephens-No indication of what they may bring to the Council Can Be found.

Ken Stewart-No indication of what he may bring to the Council Can Be Found.

Roxanne Williams-She brought the AES Plan to restart the Gage Power Plant next to the then proposed High School to the attention to the Citizens and City Council. She tried for nearly a year to get on the Agenda to make a full and detailed presentation why she was requesting action from the then City Council. Tom Schwab nor Steve Berry & Mayor Ferre would put her on the Agenda. Yet AES was put on the agenda and given as much time as they needed to make their presentation. The CJUSD did respond with a letter to the AQMD, the GT City Council responded with inaction and an out held hand for donations for GT Days and other "Activities" AES donated to. At this time, the power station has been rejected. She has spoken to the city council on a couple of other issues. She has proven to have the Citizens interest as her primary objective.

Doug Wilson- In 2006 he ran in 2 way race with Ferre received 1049 votes or 35.61 % of vote. He was appointed and remained on the City's Planning Commission during the Schwab/Berry Era. He has made statements in the past that he thinks little if anything in the past is worthy of going back to fix the procedure, or practice. Although he was selected as a choice better than Mayor Ferre, my opinion is that he is not the best selection amongst this pool of Applicants.
