Jacobsen's Purchase of the Mobile Home Park on Michigan will displace or remove a park with 27 spaces. The current plans is to build a Occupant Owned Park with a Homeowner's Association to relocate or replace the current housing spaces.
First of all, lets do the math... the planning starts off with 9 fewer spaces.
Second, who will finance the homes so that the people being displaced will be able to move into the new location, and be able to live there? Or, will the current residents be priced out of affordable and convenient housing. Some folks like small homes and yards or no yards.
Third, will Terra Loma Be the Property Manager of the Homeowner's Association???
City Manager Tom Schwab reports that the city will gain 600,000.00 in additional revenue as a result of the New Development with Stater's and Lowes, and Library. He even includes the information that there will be an in Stater's Pharmacy... Supper... two drug stores, with larger liquor sections. He never mentions the added costs to the city. Increased police expense, increased crime, traffic, and road repairs. To the citizens: we should expect more traffic accidents, public display of drunkenness, and lets not forget the day workers relieving their bladders in view of the elementary school students at Grand Terrace Elementary School.
Day workers are not bad, not planning for them being there is a fraud on the community being host to a Lowes.
Has the County Library System committed to a lease agreement with the City of Grand Terrace. Has the City of Grand Terrace the right to lease a piece of the property on the HOPES the County will sub lease it at a price to be named?
Perhaps the City is going to lose its library when the negotiations begin with well, you have to move here and here is the price of the rent.
Will anyone else make the connection and remove Terra Loma from any city contracts as long as current and former employees and associates are members or spouses of the City Council?
2006 will be an Interesting Year..
