The City of Grand Terrace Requires FOIA Request to Disclose Contributions made by Developers to the City's GT Day's Fund.

From Email Reply and Directions from the City:

"Any requests for information/documentation such as this needs to be requested through the City clerk's office and falls under the Freedom of Information Act."

"I just got an email from .............. Requesting the addresses all city owned properties. I had to send her the same response. There are guidelines that everyone must abide by to be fair."

I hope you understand.

Subject: contributions form

I know that .......... has given you the form to fill in regarding the Contributions.

Do you intend to provide the information to her? Others may be making the same request with the same document.

GRANDPATERRACE YELLS....!!!!!

THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT IS NOT A PROCEDURE THAT STOPS THE CITY FROM PROVIDING INFORMATION, IT IS AN ACT WHICH AIDS THE CITIZENS IN FORCING THE CITY TO PROVIDE INFORMATION THEY DESIRE TO HIDE FROM THE CITIZENS. THERE IS NO REQUIREMENT TO FILE A FORM IN ORDER TO GET THE INFORMATION. HOWEVER, IT IS AN INDICATOR THE CITY DOESN'T WANT YOU TO KNOW THE INFORMATION.

HOW MUCH IS BEING PAID TO THE CITY BY DEVELOPERS AND BUSINESSES TO GET PREFERRED STATUS IN DEVELOPMENT, ZONING, AND CONTRACTS? IS THERE A LINK BETWEEN THE CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CITY'S PARTY FUND AND THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF STAFF, VOTE OF THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT, AND COUNCIL?

THE REFUSAL TO FREELY PROVIDE THE DETAIL INDICATES THERE IS A PROBLEM THEY ARE TRYING TO HIDE FROM THE CITIZENS, SIMPLE AS THAT.
