GRAND BOONDOGGLE TERRACE

Welcome to another hot August in Grand Terrace, but not as hot as City Hall. What a coincidence that when the Honeywell contract is being questioned for the air conditioning, the one that the Schwab says he rather pay $50,000 more for than have it up for bids, its goes haywire. Its a great system. If you want to drop a few degrees you call Texas and they turn down the thermostat. Unless your in negotiations for a contract renewal, then they turn it down to somewhere this side of Death Valley.

BOONDOGGLE. The OAC, Ah the OAC, the cash cow for everyone except the citizens of Grand Terrace. A group calling themselves Citizens For A Better Grand Terrace have filed suit against the City and the RDA over the OAC. I'm sure GrandPa Terrace will post the filing for all to see soon. It contains all the violations of the law the City engaged in to make their deveolper image shine. It contains all the issues citizens carried to City Council and Planning Comission meetings with the proof of the violations and the warnings that they were violating the law. The date of the filing is Oct 22,2004, how nice of the city to share this information with the voters. They did,'t. They told us nothing. It appears the project was stopped by a law suit that the city council prefers to lie about. What a shock. Councilman Hilkey warned them some time ago about lying to the public but Ferre over ruled him . Now her lies have caught up with her. If she had any honor she would resign. She won't, she's just another clog in the corupt political machine in this county. She will keep lying to us until we run her and her ilk out of office in shame. Until then the shame is on us. The OAC project is not feasible according to the developer that they wouldn't tell us about either. Nor will they share the revised plan with us even though the time has expired, according to the law, to do so. At best they will have to abandon the OAC at worst they will have to start from scratch again. This should make the people that are charging $230.00 an hour as advisors to the city happy. This is a project that the Schwab likes to claim credit for. Then he should also be held responsible. The fiscal impact statement was a work of fiction then and even more so now. Do you think one of the council will be honest with us now? I doubt it, old habits are hard to break.

SUPER BOONDOGGLE. Sav-On, Jacobsen under estimated the cost by, now listen, $1,000,000 thats one million. Sav-On builds these stores on a pretty regular basis and Jacobsen is supposed to be this big developer, then how do you under estimate a project that they have experience building by a million bucks? If anyone is going by the Sav-On would you pick up my prescription we don't have one.

BOONDOGGLE. The Town Center. The folks on Barton and Michigan were told by the Schwab to deal with Jocobsen or face eminent domain. Now he can't make the escrow payments. Who is this guy? Has he paid the city anything for the millions in land on Barton and Michigan. If he can't pay the other folks do you think he can pay the city. Ask the Schwab, maybe he'll tell the truth. The citizens that attended the town meeting hosted by the Schwab and Jacobsen were told that no city funds and not one penny of RDA money were going into the project. Two days later in the Sun the Schwab says that the $7500 a month that we will have to pay for the library, will come out of city funds or RDA funds. I leave to your judgement as to the character or lack of, by the Schwab. The environmental record of Lowes is horrendous. For every acre of paved parking lot, the polluted run off increases by 1500%. "No Dumping Flows To Creek". Thats what is painted on every storm drain in town.

BOONDOGGLE. The Senior Housing with a nice park with citrus trees. Skunks love citrus. There are so many holes in this thing. There is little or no real information available on this one. The Schwab did let us know that $9,500,000 of tax payer money will be given to the developer. Now if I were a developer and a city guy got me a $9,500,000 grant I might find a way to throw a few bucks his way, that is probably the deal up front with him anyway. That's the way he worked it with the city. A prominemt citizen in town who is a developer and builder and knows the business inside out, went in front of the council. He told them that they had no business in the real estate business, that they know not what they do. This thing has phoney surveys and the usual amount of misleading statements coming out of city hall. Contracts were signed with Ralph Megna for it before the Council or Planning ever voted on it. It could make one believe that the council and Planning meets are staged. That everything is done behind the Schwabs closed doors.

BOONDOGGLE. Manhole Builders, Ha, they really shot themselves in the foot on this one. The President of the Chamber of Commerce and the Editor of the Chamber and City owned newspaper, The Blue Mountain Outlook, either live on ViVienda or close to the site of Manhole. You see how attitudes change when it's in their backyard.. I'd be willing to bet that to make up for this little oversight, they give the President of the Chamber, or the company she works for, exclusive rights to sell the Senior Housing units.

FUTURE BOONDOGGLE. The Peaker Plant. Now heres a real piece of well thought out work. Lets put three jet engines that we will be downwind of and next to a school here. We will derive no benefit from it unless we run short of air pollution. Then it will make up the shortfall.

BOONDOGGLE. The High School. There are pros and cons on this one and there is merit to both sides. It is probably a very good thing that Colton School District told the Schwab and council to butt out. Its a $100,000,000, project. Do you think that had them salivating at city hall. Lets see how some of these sound. Ferre High. Hermans High School. Garcias Idea High School. Cortez Almost High School. Oxymoron. The Schwabs, I Did It All My Self High School. I hope it works out. I look forward to teenage drivers hitting our cities streets in the morning and afternoons. I'm really excited about the bussed in kiddies that are either gang members or wanna be's. I'm hopeful but I going with

BOONDOGGLE.We as voting citizens are not respected nor is there the least bit of concern displayed by those that have taken city government away from the citizen. They have a small clique that they cater too, we all know the names. They control the water board, the council, the Planning Comission and all their strings are pulled by one individual. This City has been controlled by our own "Gang of Seven". They push projects through, they deal in conflict of interest, they play favoritism with there friends. They deceive, not just as a practice, but as a rule. They don't get it. They have no concept that we own city hall, blighted as it may be, we own the podium its not theirs, we own the cheap microphone, its not theirs.(Less money on parties, a little on equiptment.)

Last but far from least. The rumbling in this town are growing everyday. The citizen are finding out what kind of city hall this council has been running. When Schwabs lies it transends to them if not originates with them. The biggest problem we must deal with is the city manager. We have learned he is a man with no honor, from his illegal buying of Redevelopment housing for himself. To the allowing of other city employee's to do the same and giving them illegal second trust deeds of over $40,000 that don't have to be paid back. Until Thomas J. Schwab and the RDA books are investigated by Federal Law Enforcement or WE as the owner of this City petition the U.S Attorney for a Grand Jury investigation, or the Schwab is fired along with the council and house is cleaned,
