From the Email Inbox: Recall

Dear Gramps:

Yours IS A WONDERFUL REPLY to the REPLY. I do not know all the group doing the recall, but I believe this group must aggressively issue press releases with your content. I am really disappointed with her(Council Member Ferre's) response, it tells me she is not seeing anything constructive in your groups efforts or my input for better governance in this city.

1. Programs for youth.
2. Defining the role and powers of the Mayor.
3. Holding a workshop on RDA to inform an educate residents and the Council on the full scope of RDA in our city.

CITIZENS ARE STONEWALLED AT EVERY TURN.

I still have not made a commitment to her recall, as I have to Garcia, but this is hard to stomach.

Also does this group have credible candidates to take Cortes seat and run for Mayor?

Gramps Answers:

To suggest there is a "Small Group" of people motivated by "Private Interest" is just wrong thinking all around the issue. Yes, a small group can start a recall, it will take a significant number of citizens to make it actually happen. So onward with the effort to improve the governance of Grand Terrace.

The recall is nearly at the stage of collecting signatures. This will require time and effort of people committed to better governance. This is separate to who will run for Mayor or the Council Seat of Council Persons, Cortez/Hilkey. These two seats are up for election this November. Then if the Recall happens there will be needed 2 folk to serve for 2 years to finish the terms of the recalled seats.

So in there are 4 seats for people seeking to provide better governance to the City of Grand Terrace.

No, this blog has not pre determined who this will be. Names are kicking about, toes are dangling in the waters. The Recall Petitions are our focus for now.

IF you want to help, we are near the point where the need for Registered Voters of Grand Terrace who would like to help gather signatures will be needed. Contact
grandterracenews@yahoo.com and old Gramps will forward your contact information to the worker bees who are coordinating the efforts of many people and groups. There is no one single group or person taking this action.

If you want to run for office see the City Clerk for the needed papers.
