The Sun Telegram Article suggests some odd thoughts starting with the last one.
Recall proponents should not try to have a recall be cause it will be expensive and fail. Does that mean do only what is easy?
Nit and Picky comment. When the first Notice of Intent to Recall were served with out the space for the signers to Print their name and address it was returned, with the requirement of the names and addresses to also be printed. (This is ok).
Second Round of Notice of Intent was accepted for Council Member Garcia. However was Rejected for Mayor Ferre. WHY, This time because the Clerk with assistance no doubt determined it was improper to address Council Member Ferre as the Mayor. Now this was how she was addressed the first time and this correction was not noted at that time. (The law states that errors in spelling of names or other typos can be over looked if it is clear as to what is being said, or the voter would be clear as to who was being recalled.) This is a judgment call and the Recall Proponents are happy to resubmit the papers time and time again. Unlike other recall efforts this is supported from the grass roots, not by bank accounts of special interests.
Now at the current stage the proponents were again asked to correct some minor typing problems and the omission of the recalled persons address as indicated on their reply and an error in one of the names of the supporters, even printed it was difficult to read. The Proponents will be submitting these Recall petitions Friday. The signature collection effort will begin after the City Clerk, not Tom Schwab verifies the documents.
