50 Grand More?

I hoped you watched the Ferre show last night. Once again Madame Mayor got lost on the agenda and called a citizen to the podium before the item he requested to speak on came up. It goes like this Mayor. A B C D. I guess she misread the hand signals from her husband. When they discussed the Honeywell contract, Councilwoman Garcia said she preferred not to get into a ten year contract with Honeywell. A citizen pointed out that the city went into a 60 year contract with a developer for a dollar a year. Good news Mr. Schwab let the citizens know that we will not be "giving" the developer of the Senior Housing project $8,000,000 after all. Its now $9,000,000. The cost of doing business with Grand Terrace keeps going up. I wonder how many of those dollars will find their way back to city hall in one form or another? Schwab told the council, after Mr.Miller questioned a lack of bidding for contracts or just about anything else, that he would rather do business with Honeywell even if it cost $50,000 more than anyone else. Now why would he say that? Doesn't make good business sense. Anyway not for the tax payers here. GrandPa makes some excellent points below. Read them carefully,he's wise.

HUGE Question for those that post and moderate this lovely little blog. Why is it that people post anonymously here? Why hide behind names like GrandTerraceNews or delineated? What are your credentials? What about your resume? What about your real names? You feel the need to report YOUR views YOUR reports YOUR opinions YOUR slander of various GT people yet don't have the guts to put your name out there as well? There is no reason that will suffice. The only thing that would give you any merit or respect, is to proudly display your name rather than hide your name and slam everyone else. So either print your name, or hide .. hide shamefully.

@ Mrs. Thompson: I agree with you. There are many "citizens" who are out and about around town these days..one of them whom I personally came in contact with is not mentally capable of speaking to the public let alone trying her best to coerce people into her opinions. She was a former business owner in town and is well known for being on anti-depressant medication for years. I have personally seen her attack people with regard to her beliefs, and should anyone go against what she is saying, she becomes combative and accusatory. I would love to give this persons name out, but I'm sure GrandpaTerrace will use his own "gag" order and strike the name. There are others as well, but I doubt that they would ever share their names here. Sincerely, Mrs. Hester 4:49 PM

Grandpaterrace's Answer to Mrs Thompson.

Your proof of slander or your personal opinion is welcome here.

If you would like to receive copies of documents of city vouchers, and other documents referred to, including news paper articles where the persons named are quoted please ask for them. I do not desire your respect, or pride, and the issue is not me as a personality or a person, the issues are the city and the city management and public actions taken by people who seek and are in the public service and life.

There have been numerous actions by this city which would indicate that the city or it's forces will invoke all matter of actions against individuals either citizens, business persons or anyone else they seem to have a disagreement with. Therefore, some chose to provide this forum to allow the discussion and disclosure of facts, without there being a personality or political gain to myself. You Mrs. Thompson are welcome to post your ideas and opinions in this forum, without a 3 minute gag. When you do post a comment every effort to give it prominence will be made, as this blog seeks to give equal voice to all.

This has been brought up before, and once again needs to be answered....sigh here we go again....IT IS THE FAULT OF THE VOTERS OF GRAND TERRACE!! YES YOU!! When the City had proposed the UTILITY TAX on the ballot a few years back, that UTILITY TAX INCLUDED parks and recreation...For those of you who PAID ATTENTION...That's what we were to vote FOR and not AGAINST. Because some voters didn't feel it necessary to have the UTILITY TAX they voted against it thereby causing our parks and recreation for the kids to go BYE BYE. Many things are blamed on by the City and Staff, but this one, I'm afraid is the fault of the voters. Sorry Grandpa..ya can't blame City Hall for that one.

When money is spent on seniors, employee birthdays, staff parties, rocks for cars to run into, children's center and covering the copay for city council members medical and dental coverage, I say the council is not giving consideration to youth in the community, while serving themselves to houses, loans, medical insurance, and parties. I say, the city should better spend the money it has, without making its friends priority. I can blame the city for leaving out a segment of its population when it is supposed to serve all the citizens. Regardless of the funding resources, some attention should be given to youth. How about the added youth related challanges having a high school in the town will cause. How will the city use the Extra money the sale of land to the school district be spent. Will it be distributed to the prior property owners in a equitable way, or will it be used to provide youth programs, or will it be used to pay for a council member's dental bill?
