Don't Answer Questions

The agenda is out for this weeks council meeting. They are now held at six o'clock I guess they did that so people would have a difficult time making the meetings. Once again the agenda misinforms the public. They have printed that statement that says the law prohibits them from responding to citizens questions. Councilmen Miller read the section of the Brown Act at the last meeting that states just the opposite to the Mayor. Well DUH. In a letter to the council dated April 6,05 the city attorney quoted section 54954.3(a) of the Ca. Goverment Code that pretty much says the same thing the Brown Act does. It just states that no decisions may be made. I guess that is reserved for the back room. What is the Mayor so afraid of that she wants to stifle the two councilmen? It appears ,by listening to her stumble her way through the meeting and the agenda, she does not know what she is doing. So I guess she just wants everybody to shutup and don't get in the way of her camera shots. They once again will go into closed session to negotiate real estate deals on two properties on the west end of DeBerry. At least this time they will include one of the owners in the negotiations. The Brown Act does state the council must reconvene after closed real estate deals and state publicly terms and price.. So pay attention if her Honor the Mayor comes out and says there was no reportable action taken that will mean they bought the properties but don't want us to know what the city paid. It was'nt too long ago that the council and Schwab said that the city would not purchase any more land for the OAC. That did'nt last long. The land on the southwest corner of Commerce and Michigan was the last closed session land grab a few meetings ago. Do you think the owner of that property might be a F.O.C or president of the Riverside-Highland Water Co. Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe even better.
