Time For A Change
We are way past due for a change at city hall. The council, except Mr. Miller, have been there too long. Some have held their council seats for twelve years or more. City manager Schawb has been there for way too long. The council has lost sight of the reasons people voted them in, and I might add not by any overwhelming majority at the last election. Councilman Miller and Councilwomen Ferre and Garcia showed their contempt for any citizen that is not in their "clique" by promising to appear at the meetings of the Republicans Womens Club and at an Community Awareness Group when they were canidates, well what they were ,were no shows. Canidates Guzman, Dodd and Ramey had no problem keeping their word and making an appearance and debating each other. Miller, Ferre and Garcia were so convinced of their re-election that the saw no reasons to answer any questions put to them by you the voting citizen. This is the same attitude they bring to the council chambers. They have with held information that the community has a right to know. For instance they aquired land for and paid five hunderd and eighty thousand dollars for "consultants" ( can anyone say Megna) for the Outdoor Adventure Center one year before they told the community of their goofy plan. We need people who are willing to take a stand and say enough. Enough of putting us into redevelopment debt just to enrichen the friends of the council. Schawb claims he brought this project to the city and now we find it is a boondoggle. Well Schawb is a boondoggle and he should be downsized along with the OAC, downsized right out of town. Oh for the good old days of tar, feathers and a rail, that was real democracy.
