Chamber of Commerce & The GT Election

The Grand Terrace Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Pay to Attend Meet the Candidates event. It will be limited to participants able to pay $9.00 to attend, lunch included, and be in Grand Terrace during the mid day or lunch hours. Businesses are important to Grand Terrace. However, for the Chamber of Commerce to charge for an opportunity to meet the candidates and potential City Council Members sort of stinks. They would be better served if they held a parking lot forum open for all Citizens after say 7:00 free of charge. Even the location is a problem as it limits the number of people who could attend.

In addition the Candidates are limited to the subjects they can speak upon, as questions were prepared and delivered to each candidate in advance of the program.

With many of the Candidates being also members of the Chamber of Commerce this is also a bit of a fixed set up for them. Sure, some of the attendees may be looking for others to vote for but it is a stacked room. All non Chamber of Commerce Members in attendance beware. You'll be the outsider in the room.

So folks if you want to go... spend 9.00 to hear everyone answer the same questions over and over again take your camera and post it on YouTube for the rest of us who either wouldn't fit in the room or don't have the money, or mid day time to attend.

Oh and if you do post on You Tube let me know the link and I'll post it so everyone can find it.
All Candidates may submit their answers to the Chamber's Questions to this blog and it will be posted FREE to READ by anyone who is interested. GrandTerraceNews@yahoo.com any kind of an attachment is fine.

Thanks,
Gramps
