Angery Citizens Call for More Resignations:

After Council Member Millers eloquent resignation statement the community had time to gather its thoughts as they waited for time for public speaking to address Council Members and Staff.

Many Citizens of Grand Terrace called for the immediate Resignation of Bea Cortes, on the grounds that her actions exceed the transgressions of Jim Miller and her abuse of political power and relationships is not wanted in Grand Terrace. Other Citizens Pledged that there will be a new council at the next elections.

The only indirect support for Bea Cortes came from her former business associate Gene Carlstrom of Terra Loma Real Estate. He tried to explain that the 1090 law and case law is like watered down cranberry juice. So some things that may look like a conflict of interest may not be a conflict. So the others on the council who have had business relationships with individuals or businesses in the city may not be subjected to the same legal problems that befell Council Member Jim Miller. Gene Carlstrom owns Terra Loma Real Estate. Terra Loma Real Estate did business with the City of Grand Terrace. Contracts were negotiated behind closed doors, and payments made on the general ledger. All while Bea Cortes was associated with Terra Loma Real Estate, and advertised her self as a Sales Associate / Agent and a Council Member/Mayor Pro Tem. This relationship only recently has changed. Much more money was directed to Gene Carlstrom. Gene Carlstrom who also supported the Maryetta Ferre election campaign.

Many Citizens addressed rhetorically DA Ramos and challenged him to apply equal level of scrutiny and justice to Bea Cortes and Marietta Ferry and any other city employee who has been receiving unreasonable personal benefit from their relationship with the City. The call for RAMOS to do HIS JOB or don't pick on the least of the transgressions.

None of the council addressed citizen's questions. Bea Cortes made no response to the question of her involvement with Jim Miller's Arrest. Walt did not answer the question of what Bea had told him about her relationship with DA Ramos.

Clearly there is more Story to this Story. Clearly the citizens by the power of the vote have to clean house.
