“Should Their Permit Just be Modified or Completely Revoked?”
This Business has a Long History of Code and Ordinance Violations, and has Demonstrated a General Disregard for the Safety, Health and Well-being of the Community
Numerous expired permits and expired extensions over the last ten
years.
Some fees were waived that other developers are normally required
to pay.
Parking spaces rented out to other truckers in violation of zoning
- no permits.
Important information for this project’s approval was not all accurate.
Never paid property taxes for years on any improvements.
Complaints regarding truck traffic, fumes, noise, and unsightliness.
Storage/use of hazardous materials, and it is not always in compliance with their emergency business plan, which is designed to protect the public.
No new environmental review before 12,000 sq. ft. building expansion (2006).
Illegally occupied 12,000 sq. ft. expansion without a Certificate of Occupancy and without the required fire sprinkler system.
Groundwater threat to a domestic well (repairs were allowed outside).
Some vehicles were parked on pervious surfaces and/or illegally on street.
Illegally operating in C-2 zoning without a CUP – which was required in 1984 when this business began, and also when zoning changed to CM in 1990.
Not approved for a CUP until 2001 when other permits and all licenses for prior years did not appear to exist.
Michigan Street will be one of the main streets that everyone will be using for our new High School.
It is already over crowded with trucks and all kinds of other traffic.
This kind of business should never have been approved right across from a residential area.
