Grand Terrace City Council Member forms committee to seek Mayor position in November, 2010.

Grand Terrace City Council Member, Walt Stanckiewitz, has filed papers with the Secretary of State to form a campaign committee to seek election for the position of Mayor of Grand Terrace. Stanckiewitz’ ran for City Council in 2008 and stated his intentions to only serve one term.

But, after serving on the Council for the past 15 months, he has realized that major changes are needed to move the City of Grand Terrace forward. He believes that he can be more effective as the Mayor.
After speaking with several residents of Grand Terrace, their reaction has been very supportive of Walt’s decision as they too want to see the City move in a NEW direction.
Over the coming months, Walt will be seeking support from residents of the community to insure a successful campaign.

Jim Miller's Council Seat is Vacant 2010 May be filled by appointment or Election depends on the Councils Desision in the up comming months. It takes time to make such an appointment they may as well let it remain vacant until the election and let the Citizens Pick their representative not the DA's Office and the remaining troubled council.

Maretta Ferre Mayor is Up for Election 2010 ... Walt Stanckiewits hopes to un-seat her.

Bea Cortes Council Seat is Up for Election Nov 2010

If Walt Stanckiewitz Wins the Mayor's Seat. His seat would become Open for a special election or to be filled by appointment. This may be an interesting as it plays out. IF he does not win the Mayor's election he remains as a Council Member.

The net result may be that there may be a Reformed City Council after the 2010 election.
