Some Facts to Remember:
A few years ago I had to fight a fireworks caused field fire. It endangered five homes. I called 9-11 for the Fire Department and was put on hold. My hose and water pressure would not reach far enough to stop it from spreading to three of the houses. Thankfully the Fire Department arrived after several minutes. They had enough water pressure to reach the fire, it's a good thing they did, because their hose was not long enough to reach the whole of the blaze either. If you will recall the fires of the past season. Some homes burned because there was not enough man power, equipment or water to put them out. If the field fire had been in the Mayors neighborhood you know this would have been a "special agenda" item and the sale of fireworks would have been over turned. A couple years ago Blue Mountain burned over to Reche Canyon because of fireworks. What will it take, the loss of home and life? It will be of little consequence that children got to play soccer when you are looking for a place to live because your house, along with it's contents, no longer stands.
When the Council wants to throw a party with fine wine, furnish a home and car to the former City Manger, or give him a retirement "bonus" package or fund trips to the League of California Cities seminars in San Diego they have no problem finding money.
One other item in response to the "Peaker Plant" that will not be built. The only benefit to Grand Terrace would have been financial. The RDA would have been the only beneficiary. The power it would have supplied would have gone to the Los Angeles grid. Grand Terrace would not have received one nano-watt of power. Just the pollution.
