Blue Mt. Senior Villas Kill Bus 25 Service

Thank you City Redevelopment now we face ZERO bus service.

In the Sun the representative from the RTA said they are cutting the 25 so they don't have to have Dail A Ride Service.

Who uses Dial A Ride? Senior and Disabled at Blue Mt. Senior Villas who are not on the 25 and must call for a Dial A Ride due to the off the Bus Line Location the EX City Manager and CRA put the Senior Housing.

When this was pointed out... the City's Leaders turned a deaf ear to the speakers.

The agency's savings would be largely linked to its Dial-A-Ride costs, he said.
Because it offers fixed-route service, the agency is required to provide corresponding Dial-A-Ride service. Dial-A- Ride is an advanced reservation service for seniors and people with disabilities. Eliminating Dial-A-Ride service along the part of the route through Grand Terrace would save roughly $57,000, Weaver said.
"We are saving costs because we would not be required to provide Dial-A-Ride service in addition to picking up customers along that stretch," Weaver said.
While the demand for bus service was low in the past, city officials say there is a greater need today. The Blue Mountain Senior Villas, a 120-unit senior apartment complex next to the senior center, opened last year. And a new high school is expected to open in the city next year.
