GRANDPATERRACE, Responding to Your Comments: It is funny how the two comments are insight to the commenter's intent. First of all, If I am writing for myself, how is it you are reading this and making a Comment? Yes it takes time to write the blog, and keep the folks in Grand Terrace Informed. This Action and Work does mean I spend hours being a computer, digging out information to provide the Citizens of the Community, and sharing information provided by others to the wider community. This is work for the Community, I don't get paid for this service. I don't get a house for this service. I don't even get very many thank you's.. This service is done without personal reward of even recognition.
Your statement: "It is safe to sit behind a computer ", isn't it odd that there should be a need to make the implied threat that if I were at a public meeting I would not be safe? The folks who have stood up to the City Manager in the past have been ridiculed, reviled, and some have lost their homes as a result of City Action. When Council Member Miller says, "I want to hurt them and hurt them bad", at a public meeting, as a Council Member. Yes there is reason to have a fear of Government in Grand Terrace. This is a reasonable fear. Those who to take public stances do so in spite of this reality also fulfill an important public service. However, judge not the effectiveness of the lack of a face to this blog. I am amongst you daily.
The information provided is directly related to issues brought to the City Council Meetings, or Planning Department. It is reasonable to know who the Developers are, and their past relationships with Cities, and their current Ethical Practices in dealing with our Community. I make no apologies for the deluge of information.
This blog is read by the peeps at City Hall, I doubt that public comments, or individual conversations with individual citizens has been given any more attention than the comments, and suggestions made by the writers of this blog, including Grandpaterrace. You are also right that those and these efforts may be ineffective because "the Collective We" are not the concern of the City Manager, or City Administration. We don't give them money for parties, in order for them to make a decision favorable for our plan, or ideas.
As to my other civic activities. You don't know who I am, what I do and if you note, most of the work done on this blog is late at night, and on weekends, so this is my third and fourth contribution to the community if I must Count them and justify my existence to YOU. Who EVER YOU ARE.
I do know that the blog is read by no fewer than 100 people a week, and is receiving contributions for posting from up to 10 sources. So thank you for "Not Reading" the blog that I clearly write just for myself.
Now for the Second Comment
Stick to the Agenda! I am sorry you are board. The posting that board you is to provide information. The Information on the Developer's Relationship with others is important insight in dealing with that same Developer in Grand Terrace. The other postings are also to inform the public. Holding back information is the modus operandi of the City Council... You can read their web page if you don't want to be informed.
Note that there is no Financial Statements Available or for the Senior Center Developer... I think that all 501's doing business in the city have to file some sort of documents with the city as to their legitimacy. Yes they are a 501, but, this status does not make them Mother Theresa.
When the City is forthcoming with all records on line. There will be less a need for this blog and the scraps of information I am able to provide the interested readers.
By the way what is the Agenda You want me to stick to? The one they release with half information so late that a concerned citizen can't gather up data in order to check the honesty, and integrate of the government? The Agenda of not providing arrest information? The Agenda of Taking Private Property and Reselling it to another Private Developer? The Agenda of who and what? This is what We write about in this blog.
