I live with renters around me and there's nothing wrong with my quality of life, that is until the city comes around and screws something up. My neighbors and I just can't wait to have a Lowes so we can go to Home Depot.

One of our city employees is allowed to rent a redevelopment house for $600 a month and has for quite some time. Where in Grand Terrace can you find anything for $600 a month.

What certain redevelopment actives? Just what the hell is going on here? Is anybody accountable for this? Does the council just let anything happen as long as the city manager says to?

The community residents that spoke had more common sense than all the staff and council combined. While they were allowed to speak and they were heartily applauded by all the residents in attendance. No matter--the city let you speak for 3 minutes, now they will go ahead and do whatever they want that takes more "fees" for code compliance or paperwork while assuring you that this is not a tax and they are increasing your property values. The law of economics says that when costs increase, profits decrease thereby reducing property values overall. Your city at work for their benefit, not yours!

The city is in the full time business of taking your money! When they are not doing that they are borrowing $13 Million plus interest for you to pay off later. But now, they say they can't afford any programs for youth. Some cities build skate parks on land near drainage areas where buildings would be unwise. This would be a better use of the manhole builders site. This council only rubber stamps staff recommendations, or tweaks them slightly around the edges without giving staff the direction they clearly need! The staff works for all of us who pay their salary. Let's tell them what we DO want, as well as what we DONT want. If they dont listen, vote them out and get a council that can clean house if necesssary.

The city's code enforcement is being funded by the Grand Terrace Redevelopment Agency, which is not really legal. Therefore the city is looking for new money so they can free up funds to go into the development projects with some rich developers and to force long time residents out of their homes by buying them cheaply. Lots of your tax money it tied up in city owned and redevelpopment owned land, when it should be providing services instead. Wake up Grand Terrace!

Yes, this city council is just a rubber stamp for city staff!

I thought the Town Center project had senior housing in it, what happened to that?

They were counting the current Terrace as part of that "Plan" However, as punishment for not wanting Miguels in front of the Terrace, the New Plan has the Terrace Walled in like Senior Confinement so they will have a long walk to stores, and a wonderful BLOCK wall....
