FOR THE PAST WEEK I HAVE BEEN NOTICING SOME ACTIVITY ON THE VACANT LOT AT THE CORNER OF MT. VERNON AND BARTON ROAD WHERE THE NEW SAVON DRUG STORE IS GOING TO BE BUILT. MY CURIOSITY GOT THE BEST OF ME SO I APPROACHED THE TWO MIDDLE AGED MEXICAN MEN WHO WERE WORKING WITH THEIR SHOVELS,BUT THEY BOTH BECAME VERY NERVOUS AND STARTED TO MOVE AWAY FROM ME QUICKLY. ONCE I ASSURED THEM THAT I WAS NOT FROM THE BORDER PATROL THEY CAME BACK. IN MY LIMITED SPANISH I ASKED THEM WHERE WAS THEIR BOSS AND THEY SAID "NO BOSS'. I FURTHER ASKED THEM WHERE IS THE MACHINERY? AND THEY BOTH HELD UP THEIR SHOVELS

WE HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR SOME TIME TO SEE ANY CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY AT ALL. ON THIS PROJECT.AND IF THIS IS IT, I CAN ONLY ESTIMATE THAT WE WILL NOT SEE A SAVON DRUG STORE BEFORE THE YEAR 3006. NO ----------------. THAT IS NOT A TYPOGRAPHICAL ERROR., BUT AN ESTIMATED GUESS..

GrandpaTerrace Wonders the Following: Are these fellows licensed to work in the City of Grand Terrace? Do they have a business license? Do they have an employers with a license in the City which includes "Clean UP" Do those workers have adequate access to sanitation facilities and water? Who is inspecting their working conditions? If they are covered by CalOSHA, or SDI? They may be perfectly nice fellows. But could not the combined efforts of the soccer parents and team members clear the field of weeds.. For oh say $600.00 one tenth of their budget?

Is this the hint of the ethics of the City and the Developer??? HMMMM
